Melton Christian College Brookfield Campus Masterplan
A clear, principled plan that brings order and purpose to a growing P to 12 campus.
The Brookfield Campus Masterplan sets out a 15-year vision for Melton Christian College’s original campus, first built in the 1970s and added to piece by piece ever since. Grounded in guiding principles developed with the school, it makes room for growth, improves safety and connections, and gives each age group its own place on campus. The first ten years focus on essentials, with nice-to-haves in the final five.

Shaping the Brief Together
The school wanted to welcome more students and needed the space to do it, from more classrooms and specialist facilities to better building stock and safer car parking. Decades of ad hoc development had left the campus feeling disjointed, and with houses on two sides and a creek on another, every part of the site needed to work hard. We helped shape the brief through a visioning process and a detailed analysis of the space required, then used fortnightly project control group meetings to table ideas and test assumptions together. One result was relocating a large staff car park, a move that improves safety and creates room for a new specialist centre.
From Seed to Tree
Guiding principles, including sustainability and connection to Country, set a high bar and pushed us towards a unique, considered response. The masterplan creates quadrangles for each age group and central spaces where the whole school can come together, while keeping and refurbishing as many existing buildings as possible. Younger students have the most protected areas, and older students gain more independence as they grow. Three buildings have already been refurbished, celebrating quirks of the existing building stock such as the barrel vault of the junior library. Backed by hundreds of pages of analysis, the plan gives the school a clear, affordable roadmap for the next 15 to 20 years.
